Spurs fans need to keep quietSpurs fans are a funny old bunch. More than happy to shout about how amazing they are when live scores results are going their way, it's when things start to get a little bit difficult that they, all of a sudden, start to keep their mouths shut. So, here we are again in a familiar scenario, with Spurs fans bleating for all to hear about their 3-1 win this week over those majestic world-beaters Stevenage in their FA Cup replay (yes, that's right, the mighty Tottenham Hotspur needed a replay to get past Stevenage). Suddenly memories of those defeats against Arsenal and Manchester United in the Premier League seem very far away for Spurs fans, but not for the rest of us. Hotspur Fans love their ClubWith Spurs proving in recent weeks that they don't quite have the mental edge required of teams capable of winning the Premier League, their lead over Arsenal in the table slashed to four points, Gareth Bale needing to take a dramatic tumble (again) to earn the team a penalty that carried them past Stevenage, and tough fixtures coming up against Everton, Stoke, and Chelsea, clearly not all is well at White Hart Lane. Indeed, the sport news presenters are suggesting the whole Redknapp/England saga is having a negative effect on the team’s performance. Spurs fans can go on and on about having one of the strongest squads in the Premier League, they can go on and on about having one of the best players in the world (even though Bale hasn't really played that well since the Champions League last year), and they can spout on all they like about how good old 'Arry is at man management, despite the evidence pointing to the contrary, but the fact remains that form is temporary, class is permanent, so don't be too surprised if Arsenal, Chelsea, and Liverpool prove over the next few years that this really was a false dawn for Spurs after all. · Supabets |
