Samoan prop Logovi'i Mulipola has signed a contract extension with Leicester Tigers beyond the end of the season.
Mulipola was only on a short-term deal at Welford Road but the club have now confirmed he has agreed an unspecified extension to his contract after impressing this season.
The prop was initially signed to cover forDan Cole and Martin Castrogiovanni during the Six Nations but he has become a firm favourite for the Tigers and has been rewarded with a new deal.
The odds betting still has Harlequins as the favourites for the Aviva Premiership title, but a recent upsurge in form has fired Leicester back into contention.
Tigers boss Richard Cockerill has been pleased with the way the Samoa international has adapted to life in the Premiership and believes he can continue to play his part for the club.
Cockerill said: "Logo came here as an international with Samoa but with no experience of European rugby or professional club rugby. He has settled into the Leicester Tigers set-up very well and he is working hard with us."
Mulipola made sport news headlines earlier this month when he pleaded with New Zealand side Hawkes Bay to let him out of an agreement he made prior to signings for the Tigers to represent them in the TIM cup next November. It is not yet clear whether they will agree.
Full-back Niall Morris, meanwhile, is also said to be on the verge of agreeing a new deal with the Tigers.
